MBB Contest: Winner receives gift from Everyday Minerals

October 12, 2007

Mythbuster Beauty is happy to announce its first official contest. I would like to ask all readers to post a comment on their personal, “scariest makeup moment.” The best comment submitted before Halloween, October 31st, will be awarded a free gift from Everyday Minerals!   You can read my review of their makeup on my post:  Mineral makeup + Prime Time = LOVE.

What crimes of cosmetic abuse can be found in your past? Was it the bright blue eyeshadow that you used in high school, or was it after your big date when you looked at the mirror and found lipstick on your teeth?

Alright, it’s true. How can I ask this of you without a confession of my own?

The other day, Becca (1) got into my purse and found my mascara, undid the lid and proceeded to chew on the applicator wand! To make this story even more troubling, I used the mascara the next day, thinking, well, maybe this is contaminated with baby germs, but oh well, I need it! The next morning, I notice my eyes are crusted over with goop, as I went to look into the bathroom mirror, my eyes are completely and horribly blood shot. It reminds me of the spam story about the baby using his Mom’s chapstick on the dog’s rear end… Moral? If your kid sucks on your mascara wand, or you suspect anyone messing with your makeup, DUMP IT!

I especially want to thank Kate at Everyday Minerals for sponsoring this event. Everyday Minerals is generously awarding a prize to the woman with the most pathetic, most horrifying, and most hilarious story.

So get writing! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, and will be so happy to award a very deserving person some amazing mineral makeup!

Here are some comments I am getting at the blogspot site:

Well, mine is silly. I was 13, at girls camp & my lips and face were sooo sunburned. All I could find for lip relief was some lipstick, but it was a really bright pink. I remember other girls snickering as I walked by…redhead+sunburn+bright pink lipstick=bad combination. Now, I always try to carry chapstick, or clear gloss with me at the very least! – Jen at http://www.lordsofthemanor.blogspot.com

So…does my entire seventh grade year count as a moment? If I wasn’t wearing tri-colored eyeshadow (green, purple and pink) I was sportin’ the purple or electric blue mascara. Let me tell you, I was super RAD!

In eighth grade I moved into the black as coal eyeliner around my whole eye phase. I looked like a stinkin’ prize fighter. It wasn’t until I overheard one of the most popular boys in school tell someone I’d be pretty if I didn’t wear all that make up that I scaled it back a bit. That was pretty embarrassing.

Hi! Just stumbled across your blog, and figured I had a pretty good entry for this category. :)

My sophomore year prom (1992), my mother decided to do my makeup to “help me out”. I ended up with HUGE raccoon eyes. I mean, the eyeshadow was dark blue and up above my creases, white glimmery shadow stood out in stark contrast on my brow bone. Black eyeliner winged out 1/2 inch from the outer corner of each eye and then was slathered under each lower lashline!

But that’s not the worst… she applied 1973 Mustang Candy Red blush to my cheeks. And applied again, and again until my cheeks resembled two plump strawberries. Top it all off with bright red fake nails and deep red lipstick.

Oi. What a painful, yet now funny moment in my history. :)

    Hope the readers enjoy!

P.S. Did you see that Everyday Minerals is holding a contest for a 4 day, 3 night spa trip? Yippeee!
